Our impressions

Ari decided to become a donor after watching a close friend go through the emotionally demanding process of needing donor help to have a child. He comes from a warm, grounded family – with a passionate chef for a mother and a quietly dependable engineer and craftsman for a father. These influences have clearly shaped Ari's own values of honesty, humility and quiet resilience.

In his professional life, Ari works as a Design Lead and brings the same discipline and high standards to his work that he applies to every area of his life. He is hardworking, structured and takes his responsibilities seriously. As a friend, he is loyal, honest and deeply supportive.

Beyond this, Ari is a genuinely curious and well-rounded individual. He has lived in three countries, visited 27, and has a rich appreciation for design, nature and culture. An avid long-distance runner and swimmer, he finds equal joy in tending to his plants, exploring design museums and listening to contemporary classical music.

What's your diet like?
Diet is quite important to me and I try to eat healthy and varied in my everyday life. I enjoy simple, fresh food and often prefer meals based on high-quality ingredients such as fish, meat, vegetables and salads. I especially like clean, straightforward dishes with not too many ingredients. I also enjoy raw or lightly prepared foods such as steak tartare or salmon
sashimi, as well as fresh and crunchy salads.
I generally try to avoid gluten in my daily diet, not because of an allergy but because I personally feel better when I limit it. At the same time I’m not overly strict about food and believe in balance. For example, I have a clear weakness for potatoes in almost any form — mashed potatoes, wedges, fries or chips.
Cooking itself is not necessarily my greatest passion, but I very much appreciate good ingredients and simple, well-prepared food. Overall I aim for a balanced diet based on fresh, natural ingredients.

Do you have any particular talents?
Emotional intelligence - I have strong people skills and am often told that I’m good at listening, understanding different perspectives and creating a positive and supportive atmosphere. Aesthetic sensibility - I have a strong sense for aesthetics and enjoy noticing how small details, proportions and materials influence the overall feeling of a design.
What instruments do you play?
I practiced piano for two years, but I wouldn’t consider myself someone who plays an instrument.

Hobbies and interests

What sports do you like to participate in?
I enjoy several types of sports, especially swimming, running and bouldering. Swimming is something I value for its calming and almost therapeutic effect — being in the water helps me relax and reset. Running is another favourite activity of mine because it allows me to spend time outdoors in fresh air and nature, which I find very energising. I also enjoy bouldering, which is both physically challenging and mentally engaging, and the height and problem-solving aspect gives a nice adrenaline rush.
I have been active in sports since the first grade. During my school years I participated in several sports, including track and field, volleyball and cross-country skiing. Being physically active has always been a natural part of my life, and I enjoy both individual and team sports.
What are your hobbies?
With a busy career, I don’t always have a lot of spare time, so I try to prioritise the things that help me recharge. Running and swimming are an important part of my life and work almost like therapy for me. I also enjoy wellness and sauna, which I find both relaxing and restorative. I like spending time with plants and gardening as well, and I seem to have a bit of a green thumb. Travel is another big interest of mine. I enjoy discovering new places, cultures and nature, and I’m especially drawn to art and design museums, exhibitions and the occasional concert.

Questions

What does family mean to you?
My family means a great deal to me. Even though we have never been very expressive with words, we have always known that we care deeply about each other. In our family, support and love are often shown through actions rather than words.
My family has also shaped the person I am today. From them I learned values such as humility, respect and a calm approach to life. Those qualities have stayed with me and continue to guide how I see the world and how I relate to other people.
How would friends and family describe you?
My family and friends would probably describe me as a positive and energetic person who approaches challenges with the attitude that problems can always be solved. I tend to stay optimistic and motivated, even when situations are difficult.
They would also likely say that I’m creative, determined and always full of ideas. I can be a bit impatient at times because I like to keep things moving and make progress. I enjoy good conversations, laugh easily and bring a lot of energy into the room. People often say that it’s rarely boring when I’m around.
Where is your dream travel destination?
I’m especially drawn to warm and remote places with unique nature. Destinations such as Bora Bora or Tahiti are places I would love to visit one day because of their extraordinary landscapes and the feeling of being far
away from the rest of the world. I’m fascinated by places where nature feels untouched and distinctive.
In general I’m most interested in destinations where I can experience unique natural environments and local culture rather than large cities.

What's your biggest dream or goal in life?
Over time I’ve realised that the “faster, higher, stronger” mindset is not necessarily a healthy way to live. What matters more to me is maintaining the balance I have found in life and continuing to stay curious about the world. I enjoy exploring new places, meeting different people and experiencing new situations, because those experiences help me grow and see things from newperspectives. At the same time, I hope to contribute something meaningful through my work. It would be exciting to one day create something that leaves a mark - whether that’s an iconic design, an innovative material, or a new idea that improves something in the world.
More than anything, I hope to stay curious, engaged and open to life. My small personal dream is simply to never become bored - and never become boring.
What are you most proud of?
I’m probably most proud of the positive mindset I have developed over time. I try to approach life with curiosity and optimism, even when things are challenging, and that attitude has helped me navigate different situations and experiences.
I also feel fortunate to have lived in three different countries, which has given me the opportunity to experience different cultures and perspectives. In a way, I feel that I carry a small “cultural package” with me, having taken inspiration from the best aspects of each place. I’m also grateful for the support and encouragement I received from my parents to explore different paths in life. Having that freedom helped me develop independence and discover what truly suits me.
Describe some of your best experiences.
Some of my best experiences are connected to moments that gave me a strong sense of perspective. One of them is the feeling of living away from my family. Because we don’t see each other all the time, every moment together becomes more meaningful. The sense of missing each other makes those reunions especially joyful, and it reminds me how important those relationships are.
Another unforgettable experience was travelling in Iceland. I remember standing alone on a stormy black-sand beach with huge waves crashing in from the ocean and no other people for kilometres. In that moment you feel very small compared to the power of nature, and it is strangely grounding.
I also felt very proud when I was accepted into my MA programme, where only eight students from around the world were selected. It was a moment that confirmed to me that the work and effort I had invested in my path were meaningful.
Describe some of your best experiences.
How would you describe your own personality?
I would describe myself as a positive, curious and reflective person who tries not to take life (or myself) too seriously. I can laugh at myself and at the situations life brings, and I think that sense of lightness helps both in good and in difficult times. One trait I value in myself is my positive mindset. I usually approach challenges with the attitude that things can be figured out and that it is always worth trying. I also appreciate simplicity - not in the sense of being simplistic, but in valuing clarity, honesty and transparency in people and in life. I like when things feel genuine and uncomplicated. At the same time, I enjoy reflecting on ideas and understanding what motivates people. Open-mindedness, curiosity and independence are important values for me. I enjoy conversations where ideas develop and deepen, whether it is discussing a new concept, solving a problem together or simply seeing a familiar topic from a different perspective. I tend to prefer a smaller circle of close friends rather than many acquaintances, and I value relationships where there is honesty, trust and mutual respect. In my family we have never been very expressive with words, but we have always known that we care deeply about each other. Support and appreciation are often shown through actions rather than words, and that is something I value a lot.
What was your childhood dream job?
As a child I didn’t have one single dream profession, but I was always curious about how things work and interested in learning. That curiosity first led me to study medicine for a while, and later I realised that my strengths and interests were better suited to a more creative field, which eventually led me to design.
What do friendships mean to you?
Friendships are very important to me. I don’t have a large circle of close friends, but the friendships I do have are long-lasting and very meaningful. Many of them have been part of my life for years, and even if we don’t see each other often, it always feels as if no time has passed when we meet again. For me, good friendships are based on trust, honesty and mutual respect. There is no competition or judgement between us. We can be very open and honest with each other because we know that any advice or feedback comes from a place of care and the wish for the other person to do well.
It would be exciting to one day create something that leaves a mark -whether that’s an iconic design, an innovative material, or a new idea that improves something in the world.

Hello,
If you are reading this, it probably means you are on an important journey towards creating a family. I decided to become a donor after a close friend of mine went through the process of needing donor help to have a child. It made me realize how meaningful this kind of help can be.
I had a happy childhood with a family that made me feel loved, safe and confident. They taught me patience, curiosity and tolerance, and encouraged me to understand people, the world around me and myself. Growing up close to nature also gave me a calm and clear mindset, and a sensitivity to small details, both in people and in the world around me. Those qualities have stayed with me and also influence my interest in design and aesthetics today.
I don't plan to have children myself, but I'm very happy if I can help someone else experience the joy of becoming a parent. I truly wish you all the best on your journey.
Warm wishes.

Evaluation
The donor has chosen to donate because of an experience he has had with a close friend who received a donation. Her boyfriend had fertility issues. Seeing the impact the treatment had on their life, despite it being difficult and demanding, the donor decided that he also wanted to give others the same opportunity.

Intelligence:
In terms of intelligence, the donor has performed within the average for his age group on the screening test. He can be said to analyse complexity and learn new things on par with most other people. Some things he will be quick to learn, other things less so.

Personality:
In terms of personality, the donor can be said to be an incredibly calm and composed character. He’s quite unlikely to show any great emotional outbursts or mood swings with negative emotions. He has a strong control over his own temper and doesn’t worry unnecessarily. In fact, he’s much more likely to not worry about things that he should worry about, in the eyes of many others. In this way, the donor is very likely to be reactive rather than proactive, and he’s expected to be very comfortable with his own persona. Others will find it hard to change his behaviour or demeanour through feedback, but at the same time, he’s expected to be very consistent and controlled. He doesn’t respond to immediate impulses and is very good at keeping calm under pressure or longer stressful periods of time. He’s not very likely to care much about what others think of him and is rarely overtaken by depressive moods.
Socially, the donor is likely to enjoy his own company quite a bit. He’s not concerned by having mlong periods of time by himself and will likely prefer the company of a few close friends rather than big gatherings. The donor can be relatively open and accommodating when spending time with others, but towards new relations he can be quite reserved and sceptical. The donor seems to enjoy having lots to do, and he seems to enjoy doing exciting and adrenaline-inducing things. He seems like a great optimist and someone with a fundamentally positive outlook on life. At the same time, he seems to enjoy control and being the one in charge, so when seeing people in social settings, he’s likely to set the agenda as well. To some, he might come across as a bit domineering, but probably only towards people he has met a few times at least. He can be considered a bit of an extrovert at work, but when he gets home, the donor mostly prefers to recharge completely by himself and spend time alone. This can give the impression of a person who’s more extroverted in some cases and quite introverted in others.

Values and interests:
The donor can largely be said to be a very curious individual with many interests and hobbies. He enjoys nature quite a bit and goes on long runs three times a week. He has moved from a house to an apartment which has been difficult, because he has had to get rid of many plants from the garden he used to have, and could only take some of them with him to the apartment. He enjoys gardening and is very keen on tending to his plants. He also has a great interest in wellness and enjoys going to the spa for treatments. He is also very creative, fanciful and artsy. The donor is a very curious and tolerant person with a great need for stimulation, which can make him bored quite quickly. He has a keen interest in cultural activities and aesthetics most of all. He can get lost in thought and perhaps can be a bit of a daydreamer. The donor has a great thirst for knowledge and wants to learn many things.

Work moral and self-perception:
In terms of work ethic, the donor comes across as hard-working, disciplined and confident. He seems to prefer structure and predictability in his working life, and he tends to take on much responsibility and rarely says no. The donor works as a Design Lead in a clothing company and must deal with emotional, egocentric, dramatic and creative people. He enjoys this but also has little patience for people who cannot live up to deadlines and fulfil their roles. In this way, the donor can be viewed as a bit callous and cynical in the eyes of others. He has little sympathy for people that cannot take care of themselves, but has more empathy for the people he knows well and are part of his life. The donor is strategic and good at being constructively manipulative to achieve his own goals. He might be a decent politician in that way. He has a fundamentally self-centered way of approaching the world, where the donor prefers to think in terms of “what’s in it for me?”. He likes to have his own house in order before he offers his help to others.
