Our impressions

Gottfried came to us with a genuinely altruistic motivation. He has been donating blood for years and simply wanted to extend that spirit of giving in another meaningful way. Family, to him, is something you actively choose rather than something defined purely by biology, which speaks to the depth of his loyalty and the intentionality behind his relationships.

Those around him consistently describe him as warm, energetic, and dependable – someone who brings lightness into a room without sacrificing substance. What makes him particularly interesting is the contrast at the heart of his personality. He is deeply social and team-oriented, yet his greatest life dream is to sail solo around the world. He is a civil engineer with a sharp, logical mind and a natural talent for numbers, but in his downtime he loves to unwind with a good book, particularly epic fantasy and crime thrillers. Competitive on the sports field, calm and generous everywhere else, he strikes us as someone with a lot of character and a quiet kind of integrity.

What's your diet like?
In general, I’d say my diet is healthy and varied. I’m very committed to getting the minimum amount of vitamins my body needs, while also allowing myself to enjoy food without feeling guilty.

Do you have any particular talents?
I've always been good with numbers and mental math.
What instruments do you play?
Unfortunately, none, though I did try to learn to play the guitar at one point.

Hobbies and interests

What sports do you like to participate in?
Soccer - probably mostly because of the sense of community, and it’s also a great form of exercise. The bonds you form through a club usually last for many years, and you get to know each other well.
Otherwise, I’m a big fan of racket sports, like tennis and badminton (especially doubles). I think it’s all about the collaboration between you and your partner, where trust and coordination play a big part. Determination also plays a role here, as I have a dream of one day becoming good at tennis.
I’ve played handball, taken boxing lessons, and done gymnastics in my youth. In general, I like trying new things, so I’ve also tried sports like golf, archery, and squash as an adult. I’ve enjoyed them, and I know this won’t be the last time I try these things. I just have other sports I enjoy more, so it all has to fit into my schedule.
What are your hobbies?
In general, my main hobbies are things that let me switch off. My daily life is very challenging and often moves at a fast pace, so sports are my outlet for living a little more in the moment and just having fun.
Otherwise, I like to read. I'm a big fan of epic fantasy novels and crime thrillers.
And other than that, just hanging out with my friends. Whether it’s a trip to the stadium, a walk, or a cup of coffee, it doesn’t really matter to me.

Questions

What does family mean to you?
My immediate family means a lot to me, but I don’t have much to do with the other members of my family beyond that. To me, family is something you choose, not just those you’re related to, which is also why I have the close circle of friends I have now. They’re the family I’ve chosen.
How would friends and family describe you?
They would probably describe me as an energetic and warm person who’s always willing to help. I care deeply about people’s well-being and can always make sure they have a good laugh or a great experience, while also being there to lend a shoulder to cry on.
Where is your dream travel destination?
I've always wanted to visit Brazil. I've always been fascinated by the country's soccer and cultural history. On top of that, I think it would be interesting to explore the Amazon, as well as a country that, in many ways, is unlike anything I'm used to.

What's your biggest dream or goal in life?
My biggest dream in life is to sail solo around the world. For me, it’s not just about sailing all the way around the globe, but about the freedom of standing on my own two feet and fending for myself through both calm and challenging times. It’s a dream that combines adventure, self-development, and courage – one that will challenge me both mentally and physically. Perhaps also because it stands in such stark contrast to my fundamental desire to be social and surrounded by my loved ones. I’ve probably always viewed this as the ultimate test of my willpower, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.
What are you most proud of?
I think what I’m most proud of is the way I treat other people without any ulterior motives. I think it’s vital that we treat each other with respect, especially when we disagree on things. I often feel like we live in a world where people forget about each other and only communicate through a screen, whereas I value being able to look each other in the eye and talk things through.
Describe some of your best experiences.
Some of my best experiences have probably been while I’ve been traveling. I’m curious about other cultures and experiences, so my trips to Asia, Australia, and European countries in general have been eventful and are among the experiences I remember best. This is partly because I’ve always traveled with close friends with whom I’ve been able to share these experiences – ones we can look back on together.
Describe some of your best experiences.
How would you describe your own personality?
I am an energetic person with plenty of drive who thrives on taking the initiative and finding solutions. I am motivated by making things work and see opportunities rather than limitations. It’s important to me that the people around me feel equally comfortable with both sides, because I believe that well-being and strong collaboration are the keys to the best results.
In my free time, I’m passionate about sports, especially when I can share the experiences with friends and family. I love trying new things, challenging myself, and learning more about both the world and myself. My curiosity drives me forward, and I’m always ready for new experiences that can give me energy and perspective.
What was your childhood dream job?
Besides the obvious dream of becoming a soccer player, I also dreamed of becoming a tradesperson. There are quite a few tradespeople in my family, and as a kid, hearing about how my uncle would stand outside and work every day during the summer was a dream come true.
What do friendships mean to you?
They mean a lot to me. Basically, an experience is worth nothing unless you can share it with your loved ones.
To me, family is something you choose, not just those you’re related to.

Dear all,
I hope you find the right profile for you and that this will be a success. If I choose to go with me, I am happy to have helped with such a small thing that can result in a huge joy.
Now you may be wondering, what kind of person am I?
The answer: I am a happy and energetic person who is curious about life and all it has to offer.
I have chosen to be a donor because I want to help people, as this is something that gives life meaning, in my opinion.
I hope that you are ready to have a little barn owl who is curious about the big world and who grows up in a home filled with care, love and security.
I wish you only the best on the journey you are about to embark on and hope luck smiles upon you.
Best regards,
-The Donor

Evaluation
The donor chose to donate because he has a long history of helping others in many ways. He has been donating blood for quite a few years. He has decided that he does not want children of his own, but that should not prevent others from having that opportunity. He finds it interesting to research his own family history, and it is interesting to know where he comes from. Since he knew there was no history of major illnesses in his family, he thought he would give it a try.

Intelligence:
In terms of intelligence, the donor scored above average for his age group on the screening test. He can be said to be like most other people in that regard. He picks up on some things quickly, while others take him longer. He is expected to be sensible when it comes to analyzing complexity and understanding patterns.

Personality:
Overall, the donor can be considered a cheerful and optimistic person without many negative emotions. It is rare for him to ever lose his temper, which can also make it difficult for people to know his boundaries. There is, however, one exception: when he plays sports, where his competitive spirit can evoke both great joy and frustration depending on the outcome of the game. He has played team sports for a long time. The donor has a high degree of control over his own emotions and is expected to be good at keeping his cool under pressure. There are strong indications that he is rarely sad or pessimistic, and he has a fundamental optimism that everything will work out as it should. He seems comfortable with his own persona, which may make him less receptive to personal feedback than other people. Socially, he is a very sociable and outgoing person who prefers the company of others to spending time alone, even though he has hobbies where he does just that. The donor doesn’t mind taking the lead if no one else does, and he’s usually interested in having a say in the groups he’s part of. He seems quite active and likes to keep busy. Although he enjoys excitement in life, he isn’t someone who seeks out adrenaline beyond the sports he participates in. He has tried some extreme activities, but once is enough for him.

Values and Interests:
When it comes to values, the donor is very committed to doing things for other people. Having grown up playing team sports, he has developed a sense of team spirit for those around him, and he wants what’s best for the group. He has been part of many different social circles with varied interests. He isn’t overly concerned with the specific activities; what matters is that he does them together with other people. The donor has friends he hangs out with—some he plays sports with, and so on. Right now, he’s really into reading fantasy books, even though he isn’t the most creative or imaginative person himself. For the most part, he comes across as very down-to-earth, logical, and rational to other people. He doesn’t place much emphasis on emotions or give them much thought in most situations, unless they’re of great importance. Others will likely see him as a practical and pragmatic person with little regard for cultural activities or the arts. In general, he does not seek out confrontations or conflicts, but he has challenged his own tendency to be a “people-pleaser” by working as a judge, where he sometimes has to play the bad guy, which has helped him stand his ground in other areas. He prefers to be honest and straightforward, and it would be difficult for him to be manipulative, strategic, or political in pursuit of his personal agendas. For the most part, the donor is likely to be fairly modest and will seek recognition from others only when it comes to a personally significant achievement.

Work Ethic and Self-Perception:
At work, he is particularly focused on taking the initiative. He wants to get things done, and he is comfortable making decisions, even if they aren’t always the best ones. He is an engineer and often draws on his past experience. The donor has a work style in which he typically builds upon what others have done before him, so he doesn’t have to start from scratch. He is generally quite confident in his own abilities, but there are also areas of life where he readily admits his own shortcomings. He is, to a large extent, a structured person, but can handle occasional chaos and changes to the plan. The donor is eager to take responsibility and do his best wherever he can, which is also why some people may see him as someone with high standards and a critical mind. He is disciplined and good at achieving personal goals. The donor has had trouble saying no to tasks and responsibilities in the past, but past experiences have made him realize that he does not want to prioritize work over everything else, especially if his work schedule becomes too demanding.
