Our impressions

Wilbert’s motivation to donate is rooted in something personal. Two of his closest friends are donor-conceived, and that connection led him to reflect seriously on what it means to help others build the family they hope for. He speaks about it with quiet sincerity, and it is clear this is a decision he arrived at after a lot of thought.

He places great value on the people around him. Family is his safe haven and the foundation from which he moves through the world. Friendship carries equal weight. He describes it as one of his greatest sources of joy and security, and he shows it in how he engages with others. His friends describe him as inspiring, funny and creative, which reflects the energy he brings into a room.

Outside his relationships, he has a wide range of interests. He reads, plays piano, sings, draws and makes linocuts, and spends time in the forest running or hiking. Wilbert is very good at maths and has competed at the national level. With light brown hair, blue-green eyes, a slim build and a calm, unhurried manner, he has an easy presence that makes people feel comfortable almost immediately.

What's your diet like?
I strive to live as sustainably as possible, so I eat vegetarian and mostly plant-based. I don't eat products with high amounts of added sugar because I don't like to be addicted to things, which I was to sugar. So the composition of my diet is important to me and it takes into account the climate and my own health.

Hobbies and interests

What sports do you like to participate in?
I like running because it gives me a break from my own thoughts. I always run in the forest, which makes me really happy. I also do orienteering sometimes, which really connects you to the forest because you see every corner of the terrain outside the trails.
I've swum, done orienteering, scouting and taekwondo, climbed, cycled, kayaked, played tennis, padel and football, hiked and strength trained.
What are your hobbies?
I love reading. It gives me peace and it's amazing to be able to experience stories that are in a way completely your own. I play the piano because I love music and I think it's magical to be able to create music myself. The same goes for singing. I also like to draw and make art, for example linocuts. If I have time or am bored, I enjoy going for a walk alone in the woods.

Questions

What does family mean to you?
How would friends and family describe you?
My family would describe me as thoughtful, attentive and reflective. They would say that I am curious and interested in the people and world around me. I am goal-oriented and work towards what I want to achieve, both personally and professionally. My friends would say that I have a lot of new interests, that I am super inspiring and that I always have good energy. They would also describe me as funny, smart and creative. All of this is also taken from birthday cards, because I think they should be allowed to describe me themselves.
Where is your dream travel destination?
I want to travel to New Zealand. I've heard some amazing travel stories from my friends who have been there. I want to go hiking lakes and mountains. I want to learn to dive, maybe even freedive. If I dare, I also want to bungee jump. But most importantly, I want to get carried away and see where life takes me. I want to meet new friends and have a very long vacation.

What's your biggest dream or goal in life?
I want to live a life with good people around me. I want to start voluntary organizations that bring joy to the lives of many people. I want to bring children into the world and try to teach them all the values I believe make a valuable life and a strong society. I want to live in a house at the end of a dirt road in the middle of a forest.
What are you most proud of?
I'm proud of how much I've developed in my teenage years. I've found out what's important to me and I've fought for my life to consist of those things. I've created community and joy in a youth organization by creating my own events for young people. I'm super proud of that.
Describe some of your best experiences.
Describe some of your best experiences.
My friends and I had decided one summer to go on a six-day 160km hike in southern Sweden. We took the train up there together and began our hike. The conversation flowed and the first blisters appeared already after 3 kilometers. We slept in shelters in the middle of the big forest. On the morning of the second day, a squirrel had eaten our toast. We walked up and down hills and tried every conversation game there is. I only knew one of the friends well already, and the others I had only met a year earlier. In those six days I got to know them better than I had in the entire year we had known each other. We left the campsite as soon as we finished breakfast and didn't settle down until sunset. There were no plans. No expectations. No distractions. Just a long road and new amazing friends. I have so many memories from those six days that I can't possibly write them all down without it turning into a book. After four days of hiking, we met two Dutchmen. They turned out to be the most quirky and lovely guys we could possibly meet. We ended up sleeping in the same shelter site as them and actually another couple as well. In the evening we sat in the dark with lamps and played cards with four lovely people we had just met. It was an unforgettable evening. The last day of the hike was pure joy. We were finally almost done and we only had to walk 15km that day. We skipped and danced across the field with our heavy backpacks on. We were filled with a euphoria that you never forget. We six boys, who barely knew each other before the trip, had made it through a hike we never thought we'd do. We had endured blisters, thirst and unmanageable fits of laughter. What a ride... It was one of my best experiences and showed me how incredibly rewarding it can be to take a chance and say yes to a challenge you didn't think you could handle, and how valuable it can be to talk to new people.
How would you describe your own personality?
I am a very reflective person. I enjoy thinking about things and turning topics around in many different ways. It characterizes my way of being, because when I do something, it's really thoughtful. I love deep conversations. I try to be positive and in my manner and language, and it makes my life much more enjoyable and manageable. Hopefully it can spread to others too.
What was your childhood dream job?
I dreamed of becoming a police officer because I thought it was cool. I also dreamed of becoming an architect because I really like math, and I thought I could use that as an architect.
What do friendships mean to you?
Friendships for me are what give me the motivation to engage with the people around me. Strong friendships bring joy and a sense of security that you don't find in many other places. Friends are the ones you laugh with and share your ideas with. They're the ones you can always talk to about anything, and they're the ones you look up to and want to make proud. They are the ones who matter to you and they are the ones you prioritize.

Handwriting

Handwritten text
I love hugging trees. I feel like the tall, thick, strong tree can absorb my worries. It's much older than me, so it can easily handle me being a little sad along with it. Sometimes I almost feel like I'm putting down roots myself when I'm standing there with the tree. I can feel the eternal peace and great energy of the earth. And for a short while I share the silence with the tree.

Evaluation
The donor has chosen to donate because of an ad he saw one day that got him thinking about helping other people in this way. The donor is also a high school student at the moment, so the money is also a welcome opportunity. He has two friends who have been made through donations, so he sees the value in the effort.

Intelligence:
In terms of intelligence, the donor has performed above average for his age group on the screening test. He can be said to analyze complexity and learn new things better than most people. He should be considered quite sharp.

Personality:
In terms of personality, the Donor can be said to be a fairly approachable figure and someone that others will find diplomatic and pleasant to be around. For the most part, he is expected to be optimistic, carefree and cheerful. The Donor is good at keeping his cool in stressful situations and can be expected to be much less worried than the average person. He seems very patient and relaxed without a particularly high temperament. The donor rarely seems to be plagued by negative thoughts and is expected to be far more optimistic and have a basic belief that everything will be fine. This may make him less proactive than others and he may not be fully aware of certain relevant concerns. The Donor is not particularly a thrill seeker, but he can enjoy a little excitement now and then. He is not one to seek the limelight and influence, but can take control and leadership of a group if needed. He is likely to be a person with a lot to look at and a desire to do many things, otherwise he can get restless. The donor has seen himself as a bit of an introvert for most of his life, but he has started to challenge himself and be more engaged with other people. This can be demanding for him and he is still happiest in his own company, but he has developed a lot in terms of being social and sociable. He is expected to be someone who is very pleasant and easy to be around, almost to the point where he is a bit of a boring person compared to others. He can be shy about confrontation and conflict and will mostly just let it pass if people overstep his boundaries. He will mostly keep quiet if people do something that is not in his interest, when it might be better for him to speak his mind. He seems very trusting and to some he can be a little naive. He is likely to keep giving second chances even to people who have betrayed his trust. He seems to have a clear self-sacrificing attitude towards the needs of others and he doesn't like to be manipulative or serve his own agendas if it means upsetting others. The Donor is very keen to receive recognition and admiration for his efforts and achievements as he really thrives when someone appreciates his work. He has noticed this about himself, especially in relation to social media, where likes and praise could almost become "addictive", so he decided to stop using social media so much to see what effect it had on him.

Values and interests:
The donor is expected to be a very creative and artistic person. He enjoys music, aesthetics, artwork and many cultural activities. He is part of a youth association that invites people to many different creative events, such as crafts and the like, which he enjoys very much. He plays the piano in his spare time and really likes to explore the world and enjoy new things. He seems to have a real thirst for knowledge and has clear academic inclinations, although he finds it difficult to choose a career path with so many interesting avenues to follow. He seems very tolerant and thoughtful and has a strong tendency to think things through and be reflective. Others are likely to see him as someone who cares a lot about logic, truth and knowledge. He can see the world from many different perspectives, which can also mean it's hard to figure out his opinions and values. Perhaps especially because he doesn't want to upset others. The donor is likely to thrive on variety and can quickly tire of routine and the familiar.

Work ethic and self-image:
In terms of value ethics, the donor seems to have some confidence in his own abilities, but he may also recognize that he doesn't know everything. He has a clear preference for structure, order and planning, and the donor seems quite deliberate in his decision-making rather than being intuitive and impulsive. He sees himself more as a thinker, and he highly values promises and responsibility. He will try to do everything he can to fulfill agreements where he has a strong sense of duty. However, he can be more selective about his discipline and ambitions as he seems to be more concerned with being achievement-oriented with his passions than being a perfectionist in all aspects of life. He can be lazy and more carefree in some respects and very competitive and critical in others. He cares most about being happy and doing things that make him happy, which makes him less likely to put effort into places where there is no interest.
