What is your diet like?

I eat to support my training and overall health, based on science and personal preference. That’s why I’m primarily focused on getting enough vegetables and fruits and quality protein in large enough quantities that it’s suitable for me to train a lot. During periods when I have trained particularly hard, or during periods when I have cut body fat, I have been very focused on my diet, but primarily on the macronutrient level. So diet is not really that important to me in itself, but a means to something else. And because I have trained a lot and played sports at elite level, I’ve considered my diet primarily as a way of fueling my body and keep it healthy.

Do you have any specifc talents?

I’ve always had a good sense about people. I can immediately tell if someone has bad or good intentions. People who sweet-talks and charms those around them often makes me suspicious. Countless times, I have warned those around me against certain people, and I’ve always been right about my intuition.

Which instruments do you play?

I play the trumpet.

Which sports do you like to participate in?

As an adult, I’ve been running and strength training since I was 18, and powerlifting, weightlifting and CrossFitting at high amateur level and periodically at elite level. These sports support my practice within the Armed Forces shooting, orienteering and doing obstacle courses. I love using my body and I have explored many types of movement and sports, including swimming, climbing/bouldering, basketball, various types of martial arts and football.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I have always had many hobbies. In the practical sphere, I practice bushcraft and survival in several different areas. Besides the challenge of surviving in nature on my own, it also has significant relevance in my work. The bushcraft element is partly historical and cultural interest, and partly an aesthetic element. For example by exploring the limits of what natural materials and leather from animals you can hunt yourself can provide you with in the arctic regions.

What does your family mean to you?

My family means a lot to me. We don’t have to talk often, but we are always there for each other. We’re a big family but we get together often to celebrate birthdays and life events. We always help each other, practically, with emotions in difficult times. We are happy for each other in the happy moments, we celebrate each other, financially we also like to help and advice those in less fortunate situations, for instance those who study. We make sure everyone shares experiences together, also the older and the younger members of our family.

How would your friends and family describe you?

When I ask friends and family, they describe me as humorous. The one that does a happy dance in the middle of the supermarket to provoke smiles with my family and friends. The one who makes things happen, and the one who follows through with what I start. They describe me as being strong, and as someone they have faith in to handle anything, someone who’s rarely down or having a hard time.

In general, others see me as optimistic and full of energy, with lots of drive and speed and independency, but I’m always ready to help others.

Some also describe me as being quite stubborn. This is both good, because it makes you achieve a lot, but of course it also means that friends and family often have to live with my need to thoroughly discuss subjects.

What are you most proud of?

That my family and I always do our best to be the best version of ourselves and make ourselves better. I am also proud that I generally do a lot for others and to do good things for my fellow human beings without expecting to get anything in return.
For one instance, I am a blood donor and I make a virtue of being kind on larger and smaller levels. I like doing kind gestures like opening the door for others. I think those little things mean a lot, especially if we all do those little things every day.

What are some of your best experiences?

Among my best experiences are having my children and meeting them for the first time, memories with family, and also good moments with my friends. I am also a person who has experienced many big things in relations to my work. I’ve been deployed, jumped out of planes and been part of teams that saved people whose lives were in danger. Making a real difference in the lives of others have touched me a lot.

How would you describe your personality?

In general, I am a very engaged person with a lot of nerdy interest. I have a general curiosity to know as much as possible about as much as possible.

I think many would describe me as loyal and someone who keeps his word. I talk a lot and I have an opinions on everything and I enjoy discussing everything from my work, to the fall of the Roman Empire, to EU politics. In general, almost everything I do, I do with a purpose and for the long-term potential. Not so much ‘for fun’.

One of my role models is my grandfather, who in his younger days traveled in Greenland and worked in some of the most uninhabited parts of the country. He came home with stories about the wild arctic climate and polar bear skins from bears he had shot.

Whatever the reason and motivation for fertility treatment might be, the result is as world-changing and revolutionary as one can imagine in their wildest dreams. My experience and journey with parenthood has so far never been boring. I would have difficulty recognizing myself from before I had children – or even before I had many children!
Getting to know yourself as a mother, father and parents in general is almost as big as experiencing the personality found in your child. They are, from my point of view, immensely different from each other, even early on.
But you will probably soon have your own experience with all of that.
