About

Reproduktionscentrum at Akademiska sjukhuset in Uppsala is a public fertility centre within one of Sweden’s leading university hospitals. Founded in 1995, the centre brings its clinic, laboratory and care unit together under one roof, building on the hospital’s long history in reproductive medicine. Pioneering hormone treatments for infertility were first developed here in the 1950s.

The centre investigates and treats involuntary childlessness for both couples and single people. Treatments include ovulation stimulation, insemination and IVF/ICSI with the patient’s own or donated eggs and sperm, as well as testicular biopsies and fertility preservation through egg and sperm freezing.

Reproduktionscentrum’s fertility laboratory is a licensed tissue establishment with an ISO 9001-certified quality system. It uses the RI Witness electronic tracking system to make sure every sample is correctly identified at every step. Patients are cared for by a multidisciplinary team of doctors, embryologists, midwives, nurses and counsellors, and the centre is continuously involved in research and in training the next generation of specialists.

Overall, Reproduktionscentrum combines the expertise and safety of a university hospital with personal, supportive care to help patients on their path to parenthood.
